This restaurant lived up to the billing. We had a pleasant server in Antoinette and the food was everything we hoped it would be; bold and modern while delivering on taste. They provided champagne toast for my birthday, which is always an appreciated touch that sets the tone for the meal. I don't remember detailed notes about the cocktails, but I remember enjoying them. Would love to see more circulation by the FOH managers, but that would be admittedly nit-picky.
We started with the hamachi tataki. The dish itself was relatively anodyne, but the fish was fresh and the traditional combination of pear and daikon was a nice mood setter. Next we had the crispy pig ear. I loved to see this fearless dish on the menu. There were enough unique tastes to see the progressive nature of the kitchen and enough familiar tastes to get less adventurous diners to try it. Tofu and bean sprouts were a beautiful marriage with the crispy pig ear; would definitely suggest for parties of 3 or more to try. The last two dishes we had were the coal roasted cabbage and the lamb noodle; both were exceptional. The cabbage was my favorite dish of the evening, with huge umami flavors. The lamb noodle was more of a comfort food and a crowd pleaser with familiar flavors.
High recommend and will definitely return. Looking forward to trying some of the wagyu offerings like A5 and the fried rice.
We ordered delicious cocktails and a few dishes to share, but the dish that really left a mark on us is the Taiwanese popcorn chicken and that’s saying a lot since we went to Taiwan this past spring. The vibes of Animae is perfect for a date night or a girls night out with your favorite people in the world. We’re excited to come back and try other dishes.
Great atmosphere and ambience. Cool concept. Very luxurious. Food is awesome and service is incredible. Disappointed with wagyu beef (had high expectations and expensive). Small portions, so you buy multiple items (tastes delicious). Amazing fusion. Highly recommended.
Came here via recommendation of my friends. We got the Shrimp toast, a5 wagyu tartare, cumin lamb noodles, and 8oz choice fillet steak with banchans.
Overall, the food was too over salted and greasy, to the point where me and my boyfriend were nauseous. Perhaps it was an off day, but every dish was unpleasant. The steak was a odd texture, feeling similar to steaks that have been frozen for too long. It was mostly our fault though, because we didn't notify the waitress about our unpleasant dining experience to try and remedy the over salted dishes. If they were less salty, perhaps the tartar and the cumin noodles would have been ok--not great but palatable.
We omitted drinks, so can't speak on that. Overall, not my cup of tea, but could be someone else's
Really cool place. Food was awesome, fun concept, music was great, but way too loud for conversation.
Lamb noodles + 4 oz of A5 per person and you’ll be in heaven. The cocktails are solid, but y’all should sneak into False Idol and tweak your Ube cocktail recipe to mimic theirs a bit more. …
Very tasty, pleasant atmosphere, excellent service
Food was great and the place is nice. Went for Christmas eve.
